Product Description
Soft, delicate and with a light, clean smokiness, our naturally smoked hake is a more subtle alternative to smoked haddock or cod. Smoked in house over hardwood without artificial colour or dye, it has a pale, natural appearance and a gentle flavour that suits lighter dishes particularly well.
Poach in milk for a delicate result, flake through pasta with a little cream and herbs, or use it as the base for a refined fish pie or chowder. The soft texture of hake takes well to smoking, remaining tender rather than firm, which makes it easy to work with and versatile in the kitchen. It also substitutes well in smoked haddock recipes for a lighter result.
Our smoked hake is made from fresh hake sourced through Brixham Fish Market, smoked to order in house by our team. With nothing sitting in stock, it is sent out fresh on your chosen delivery day. Always fresh and never previously frozen, so you can freeze it at home if needed.
Serve simply poached in milk with butter and chives, or flaked through a warm potato salad with a light mustard dressing.
