Crab Mac and Cheese

Ingredients
- 250g macaroni or short pasta
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 500ml whole milk
- 100g mature cheddar, grated
- 50g parmesan, grated
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- 200g handpicked crab meat (white or mixed)
- Salt and black pepper
- Breadcrumbs and extra cheese (for topping)
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan).
- Cook the pasta in salted water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the flour. Cook for 1 minute, then gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and thickened.
- Stir in the cheddar, parmesan, and mustard if using. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Fold in the cooked pasta and crab meat, then pour into a baking dish.
- Top with breadcrumbs and a little extra cheese. Bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbling and golden.
Serving Suggestion
