Easy Monkfish Kebabs - Hamiltons Fish

Easy Monkfish Kebabs

Monkfish is ideal for kebabs thanks to its firm texture and mild, sweet flavour. It holds its shape well on the grill and works brilliantly with marinades, spices, or just a squeeze of lemon. These kebabs are quick to prepare and perfect for summer barbecues or a simple midweek treat.

⏱️ Prep Time: 15 minutes 🔥 Cook Time: 10 minutes 💡 Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients

  • 300g–400g monkfish tail, filleted and diced
  • 1 red pepper, cut into squares
  • 1 red onion, cut into wedges
  • Olive oil
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Salt and pepper
  • Optional: garlic, paprika, chilli flakes, or fresh herbs
  • Skewers (wooden or metal)

Method

  1. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 20 minutes to prevent burning.
  2. Toss the monkfish chunks with olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and any optional spices or herbs.
  3. Thread the monkfish, pepper, and onion onto skewers, alternating as you go.
  4. Grill over a medium-high barbecue or under a hot grill for about 8–10 minutes, turning once or twice until the fish is just cooked through and lightly charred.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with couscous, rice salad, or flatbreads and a dollop of garlic yoghurt or chilli sauce. These kebabs also pair nicely with a fresh tomato salsa.
